What happens to my debts after bankruptcy?

Once you have declared bankruptcy, you are released from all unsecured debts such as trade debts, credit card debts and personal loans.

You will not be released from debts arising from fraud, court imposed fines, child support payments, HECS debts or debts payable under the proceeds of crime act.

Please also note that a bankrupt is liable for all debts incurred after bankruptcy.  If debts incurred after bankruptcy are not paid, you could become bankrupt again.
