What happens to my ABN or can I apply for an ABN now that I am bankrupt?

Upon declaring bankruptcy, the Trustee will contact the tax department and this will result in the ABN being suspended as of the date of bankruptcy. If you require the ABN during the bankruptcy, you will need to contact the tax department and have the ABN re-instated and re-activated. From that point, you will be responsible for lodging BAS forms and paying any taxes incurred.
